New Blog For a New Mission

Hey you guys,

This is Jonathan Bishop; the new blogger for the RSBC mission team to Barbados. This year, along with a new group and larger fervor for the Lord, there will be a new blog domain for this year's mission trip. You can either click the link on the page or just type in:

http://rsbcblogger.blogspot.com/

Be sure to leave comments and check out the testimonials from each day.

The most important thing that you can do to help us out on this mission trip is PRAY!!!
My goal for this new blog it to give you specifics to PRAY about while we are doing GOD's work in Barbados,
so that HIS movement and will, will flow through us to minister the the hearts of the people that we might encounter,
in respect of, and to, the will of GOD.

Thank you for your help though prayers:

  • Right now, i would hope that you are praying for the people of Barbados and that GOD has and will start preparing these people for HIS word.
  • Right now, pray for us: his servants, to be humble and willing to do HIS work for HIS glory
  • Right now, pray for safety as we travel and for calm hearts in everyone whom has never flown before (including me)
  • Right now, pray for Rick and Cindy in any way you see fit, their love for this people is evident, but their love for GOD is even greater, pray for us to help them spread the LIGHT in Barbados
  • Right now, pray not only that GOD would do a work in the lives of the people of Barbados and HIS missionaries, but also in your own life, in the place where you are at: your mission field.

Thank you,

Correspondent: Jonathan Bishop

Today's Activities

Today, we did not have much of a jam packed day. Everyone was able to sleep pretty late today because we were all extremely tired. It truly was a blessing to be able to get a little extra sleep today. The hot weather and sun can really drain someone. After we awoke, we went to visit Society Primary School. We arrived and were greeted with many anxious children wearing uniforms. These students are extremely different from the children in the United States. The children used phrases such as "Thank You Sir" (While Standing), "You are welcome to our school." These students were quiet and very attentive to what we came to share with them. We shared the story of Noah and the Ark as well as sang songs. These children did an excellent job with listening and answering questions. Many of our team members acted the story out and while a narrator told the story. Every student in the assembly room were utterly amazed! We traveled back to YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Base Camp to eat lunch. Then, we went to St. John's Primary School. We walked through the entire school to get to the last classroom. These students were the oldest of the students in the school. The equivalent to our schools would be sixth grade. These students were so polite and loved the story of Noah as well as the songs. At each school we had a question and answer time for the students to ask us questions as well as the team members to ask students questions. During this time, we were able to find out about their countries national Heroes, national anthem, and pledge to their country. We were able to share about our national heroes such as George Washington and Billy Graham as well as share our national anthem, and pledge to the American flag. It was awesome to share the Gospel with these students as well as allow them to experience a part of our culture and for them to share with us about their culture. Let me say, GOD IS GOOD!! We would be thrown in jail for sharing the Gospel in the classrooms in America. So Praise God for providing us the privilege to go into some schools and share the Gospel to numerous students!!

Man it is amazing at how these children know scripture verses, Bible stories, and their manners. Compared to the United States, we wonder why we have so many problems with children in our schools. These children have the Bible ingrained into their minds each and everyday. Unfortunately, many of the people we have encountered have a head knowledge instead of a heart knowledge. That needs to be our prayers as we pray for the nation of Barbados. I am excited to know that we have planted many seeds so far this week. We have planted the seeds and many groups are going to come after us to cultivate the soil in the lives of the students as well as the communities in Barbados. Be in prayer for the next groups who come into Barbados to help Rick and Cindy minister to this nation! Also, pray that our Mission Team will come back with an innate desire to share God and that the fire will never die down. I am ready to see the Lord work in ways that we could never imagine!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as our week comes to an end! The Lord wants to do some amazing things in the lives of the Bajans as well as the Mission Team Members. Please listen to the lyrics because I thought that it would be fitting to the ministry here in Barbados and the United States!

Summation of Monday thru Wednesday

I just wanted to apologize for the second video blog. We had some audio difficulties! I have been trying to work on it; however, my programs were not wanting to cooperate. So, I am going to provide you a summation of the video blog. Thomas and Faith were saying that four people had given their hearts to Christ. They also were explaining what they did on Monday. We went out into the St. Phillip Parish to have people answer some questions on a survey. There were seven questions so we would find out more about the Bajan culture. The Lord provided use with four salvations. Thomas was also thanking God and was wanting to challenge each of us to pray for the people of Barbados. He stated that he prayed for people to receive Christ and the Lord answered his prayers. So continue to pray for us as we visit the a few more schools and people pray for us as we are running low on energy. Pray that the Lord will provide us with an amazing amount of energy!!! The Lord has done some amazing things here in Barbados and we are claiming this nation in the name of the Lord. "If my people who are called by my name humble theirselves and pray, I will hear their prayers and I will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14.. Please make this your prayer for Barbados as well as South Carolina!! We need a healing from the Lord!

In Christ,
Cole

Today, the Lord answered another prayer!! One more person gave their heart to Christ which makes this five more into the Kingdom. We went out into the community surveying homes. The Lord provided us with one soul into the Kingdom! I am so excited the Lord working. I pray for 10 more in these next couple of days. I want to challenge you to pray hard! I know the Lord will provide and answer our prayers! We had an amazing time this afternoon ministering to students from St. Marks school. We worked with a group of students from DTS (Discipleship Training Seminar). These are student from Switzerland, Germany and Holland. They spend time learning more about the Bible and then applying their knowledge by going out into the community. It was a wonderful experience to work with some students from another part of the world! Tonight, we had an amazing service! James Williams took control of our service at Peoples Church and we had a time of training in how to study God's Word, the Importance of Fellowship, Evangelism and Prayer. The Lord showed up tonight! No one gave their hearts to Christ; however, I believe it was more of a learning time for the people in the church as well as us. We had a wonderful service!

Prayer Request:
  • Three schools we are visiting Thursday and Friday
  • Community Surveying
  • Salvations
  • People's Baptist Church
  • Redemption Baptist Church
  • Supers Baptist Church
  • People's head knowledge of the Bible to turn to a heart knowledge
  • The Lord to sweep through this nation like a wildfire

In Christ,
Barbados Mission Team 2008
